EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Nov. 29, 2021) – Wolfspeed Inc., the Durham, North Carolina-based global leader in silicon carbide technology, highlighted its partnership with North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University as part of its transition from the Nasdaq Global Select Market to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
Wolfspeed commenced trading as a NYSE-listed company under the new ticker symbol “WOLF” at market open Oct. 4, the same day its corporate name officially changed from Cree Inc.
Wolfspeed hosted an investor day Nov. 17 at the NYSE where CEO Gregg Lowe, chief financial officer Neill Reynolds, and other members of the senior management team provided an update on industry trends, new developments in the business and the company’s long-term outlook.
Of note was Wolfspeed’s ongoing commitment to North Carolina A&T, launched in September 2020 with the company’s five-year, $4 million contribution to the university. It was among the first corporate donations in excess of $1 million to the Campaign for North Carolina A&T, an eight-year capital campaign that ultimately generated a record $181.4 million before concluding Dec. 31, 2020.
Wolfspeed’s gift led to the establishment of the Cree | Wolfspeed Endowed Scholars Program, which supports students within the College of Engineering’s Helping Orient Minorities to Engineering (H.O.M.E.) Program and the College of Science and Technology’s Inspiring Minds Program.
Through the scholarship, students also have the opportunity to be considered for paid summer internships with Wolfspeed as well as full-time employment with the company after graduation.
In November 2020, the A&T chapters of the National Society of Black Engineers, Society for Women Engineers and Women in Science and Technology each received $5,000 during a campus visit by Lowe, Wolfspeed Employee Communications Manager Pam Bullock and Wolfspeed Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Director Tamara Pearce.
“At Wolfspeed, we believe students from all walks of life should have the same educational opportunities to help set them up for success,” said Lowe.
The partnership between A&T and Wolfspeed is also featured as part of the NYSE Global Giving Campaign.
