The full title of the play is “The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice,” written by William Shakespeare in 1603. Black is A&T’s fourth fellow, following Alexis Davis, East Dockery and Donovan Dooley’s participation in 2021, 2019 and 2018, respectively. She will join five cohort members from Alabama State University, Florida A&M University, Hampton University, Howard University and Xavier University.

The HBCU National Center selected Sydney Ross, a rising senior multimedia journalism major at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, to participate in its Class of Summer 2022 cohort. The HBCU National Center program was “established by the Honorable Jacqueline M. Lewis to foster experiential learning, mentorship, and networking” and aims to help make internship housing in Washington, D.C. affordable for students at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Ross will intern in the nation’s capital this summer with the Black-owned network launched by renowned journalist and commentator Roland S. Martin.

The Theatre Arts program at North Carolina A&T State University will present Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson's "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" beginning Thursday, April 28. Directed by Miller Lucky Jr., the production is a searing account of what racism does to its victims. It is funny, salty, raw and lyrical highlighting all the complicated emotions of the blues music it celebrates. Jayne Trinette, an alumna of A&T’s theatre program, will star as Ma Rainey.
