Roy Cooper on Tuesday to visit the transportation research facility at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s Gateway Research Park North Campus. Gateway North houses a diverse fleet of connected autonomous vehicles and one of the nation’s first rural test tracks for testing and developing autonomous vehicles.

A&T to Lead “Ag Tech Corridor” Project with $1M from National Science Foundation

N.C. A&T Researchers Developing AI-based System to Make Driving More Predictable, Safer

A research team in the College of Science and Technology at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University has conducted a pilot project using models available through Microsoft’s Azure Open AI Service to develop a system that will lead to advancements in traffic management using physic informed deep learning. The pilot, led by principal investigator Leila Hashemi-Beni, Ph.D., and applied science and technology doctoral student Tewodros Syum Gebre, received support from Microsoft under the company’s “Accelerating Foundation Models Research” (AFMR) collaboration.

Clean Energy Training “National Model” Blows Past Year 1 Goals, Expands at A&T

STEPs4GROWTH (S4G) marked its first anniversary with an announcement that the program has graduated 113 students, significantly exceeding its first-year goal of 100. The program’s industry partners now number 45 and include such leading firms as Duke Energy and Siemens. The network was established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1991 “to assess the effectiveness of emission reductions programs by reporting trends in pollutant concentrations and acidic deposition.” As of 2021, CASTNET monitors 99 sites in the United States and Canada.

N.C. A&T Alumna Joi Carter Recipient of BEYA’s Modern-Day Technology Leader Award

Joi Carter ’14, a North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University alumna and senior principal systems engineer at Northrop Grumman, was recently recognized during the annual Black Engineer of the Year Award (BEYA) STEM conference as a 2022 Modern-Day Technology Leader awardee. The honor, BEYA notes, recognizes the “bright people who are shaping the future of engineering, science and technology” in the workforce.

N.C. A&T’s Theatre Arts Program Presents “A Night at the Living Museum: A Tour of Black History”

Beginning March 17, the Theatre Arts Program at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will present “A Night at the Living Museum: A Tour of Black History.” Audience members will take a living history tour led by a historical specialist and see living legends come to life whose contributions to society have shaped entertainment, politics, literature and civil rights.
