The Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics Closing Bell Speaker Series is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20, from 4 to 5 p.m. in Merrick Hall Room 125.

The featured speakers are alumnae and Deese College Executive Advisory Council members Melanie Glover, CPA, partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC, and Christina Howard, CPA and Certified Fraud Examiner, partner, Forvis, along with Herschel Frierson, principal, Crowe.

Herschel Frierson is managing director at Crowe LLP with over 22 years of experience and is a registered municipal advisor. He specializes in governmental and general consulting, including cash-flow analysis, revenue and tax-impact studies, municipal bond issues, financial planning, and economic development activities. 

He is the national chair of the National Association of Black Accountants and previously led Crowe’s African American Business Resource Group. He has been involved with numerous organizations, including Big Brothers of Indianapolis, the Center for Leadership Development, and the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee.

He earned a B.S. in accounting from the Lacy School of Business at Butler University. 

Melanie Glover '04 is a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) LLC, where she serves as a director in the Risk Assurance practice. She specializes in assisting clients with internal controls assessments, regulatory and contractual compliance attestations, third-party assurance, and information technology audits. Glover is also a CPA and a certified information systems auditor. 

Glover serves on the Executive Advisory Council for Deese COBE, where she provides guidance to administrative and academic leadership while supporting students in their academic and professional pursuits. 

She earned a B.S. in accounting and business administration from Deese COBE and an MBA from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. 

Christina Howard is managing partner at Forvis Mazars LLP, a public accounting firm, where she leads TALENT SHIFT LLC, a subsidiary of the firm aiming to globally connect professionals with projects at companies through advisory, assurance, and tax services. She is a CPA and a certified fraud examiner. 

Howard is an executive advisory council member for Deese COBE. She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. 

She earned both a B.S. in accounting and a B.A. in Spanish from A&T and a master’s in accountancy from the University of Virginia. 

This event is open to the campus community and professional attire is encouraged.
