Commencement Instructions – Master's
- Candidates must be present at the line-up area in the Greensboro Coliseum by 7:30 a.m. for Fall Commencement or noon for Spring Commencement.
- Line up by college:
- College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences
- College of Arts Humanities and Social Sciences
- College of Business and Economics
- College of Education
- College of Engineering
- College of Health and Human Sciences
- Joint School of Nanoengineering and Nanoscience
- College of Science and Technology
- Candidates from each college should walk in together as they enter the seating area and will be expected to sit along with their colleagues in their college, in the order listed above.
- All master’s recipients will be asked to stand. All candidates should remain standing until the last master’s recipient has been recognized. The Graduate Dean will ask all master’s recipients to sit down at the same time after the last candidate has been recognized.
- The Graduate Dean will ask candidates from each college to approach the stage, one college at a time. When your college is called, all students in that college should approach the stage but remain standing at the bottom of the steps.
- The candidate presents a name card to the official and walks up the steps to the stage as his/her name is called.
- The student approaches the chancellor and is greeted by Chancellor Martin.
- The student and chancellor pose for a picture.
- The student continues downstage and is greeted by Provost, Dean of the College, other stage guests, and returns to seat.
