International Student Requesting an I20/DS2019 Change
When a student progresses from one level of study to another, changes the program of study (including thesis to non-thesis), or applies for a co-major, it is necessary that Immigrations be notified for F-1 students and the Exchange Visitor Program for J-1 students. This process occurs when you change the program of study, move from a Bachelor’s to Master’s degree, from a Master’s to a Doctorate, or from a Doctorate back to Master’s degree or pursue a co-major at the same institution.
A new financial guarantee form for financial responsibility will be required in order to issue a new Form I-20 or DS-2019 to complete the notification process to Immigrations or the Exchange Visitor Program.
