Department of Built Environment
The Department of Built Environment offers three outstanding program areas:
Environmental Health and Safety(EHS)
Geomatics (GEOM)
The department offers these three degree programs at the undergraduate level, one shared Masters degree program and shared Applied Science and Technology (AST) Ph.D. program. EHS also offers an 18 credit hour undergraduate Certificate Program. EHS and GEOM both offer online options for their BS degree and the Certificate. The EHS program also takes part in the Graduate Interdisciplinary Environmental Certificate Program (IECP), which is 15 credit hours.
All of our Bachelor of Science (BS) degree programs have 80% to 90% placement within 6 months of graduation with average starting salaries of 70 K. Internship or industrial experience opportunities are integrated into the programs for experience in the field.
All three BS degree programs (EHS, CM and GEOM) are accredited by ABET under the Applied and Natural Science Commission. Visit: https://www.abet.org/about-abet/ for more details. The EHS program is recognized as a Qualified Academic Program (QAP) by the board of Certified Safety Professional (BCSP) enabling graduates to become Graduate Safety Professionals (GSP) upon completion of degrees. Geomatics (GEOM) has received the third place NCEES Surveying Education Award for 2021 and 2022.
