The Bachelor of Science in Economics provides you with a strong foundation in analytical thinking and data analysis through the theoretical and empirical modeling of individuals, firms, markets, and the economy as a whole—both domestically and internationally. Furthermore, in our program, you have up to 9 free electives (27 credit hours) whereby you can choose a concentration outside of the field and craft a degree program that meets your personal needs and career goals. These electives can also be used as transfer credits from other institutions, even if the courses do not match with the core program requirements. As an economics major, you will be well prepared for employment in the private sector, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, as well as admission to graduate programs or law school. Specifically, you will develop the analytical reasoning, modeling, quantitative, and forecasting skills necessary for any management position, a solid grounding in how individuals, markets, and governments interact, as well as the presentation and research qualities sought after in all areas of the private sector, government, NGOs, and higher-level degrees.

As a graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Economics program, you’ll gain a solid understanding of how individuals, businesses, and governments make economic decisions and how markets work. You will learn to think critically and analyze complex problems by applying core economic concepts and models to real-world situations, such as understanding consumer behavior or evaluating policy impacts. You will develop skills in data analysis and interpretation, using tools like Excel and statistical software to make forecasts, identify trends, and provide evidence-based solutions to economic challenges. Your coursework will build strong communication skills, helping you to clearly explain economic ideas and findings, whether through professional writing or engaging presentations. You’ll gain hands-on experience with essential economic tools, such as econometrics and quantitative analysis, giving you practical expertise for careers in business, finance, and government. By the end of the program, you’ll be equipped to analyze global and domestic economic issues, evaluate market behaviors, and provide actionable insights. This program prepares you for roles like consulting or financial analysis, or for further studies in graduate school.
