EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Jan. 31, 2023) – A senior advancement executive with nearly three decades of higher education experience – including service as chief advancement officer for the University of North Carolina System – has been named interim vice chancellor for strategic partnerships at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, school leaders announced today.
For Timothy A. Minor, MPA, it’s something of a homecoming: He served as associate vice chancellor for University Advancement at North Carolina A&T from 2008 to 2013, leading fundraising, alumni relations and advancement services operations.
But his extensive background also includes significant advancement leadership positions, beginning in 1994 at Emory University, UNC-Chapel Hill and the V Foundation for Cancer Research, as well as the UNC System.
His new role at A&T is a cabinet-level position, charged with cultivating, stewarding and sustaining the university’s rapidly expanding portfolio of external partnerships with a broad range of businesses and corporations across North Carolina and around the country.
“Tim’s strong familiarity with A&T and outstanding track record at peer institutions and organizations made him an exceptional choice for this important and new role for our university,” said Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr. “We look forward to his leadership.”
Minor holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Master of Public Affairs with a concentration in nonprofit management from UNC Greensboro.
He created and for eight years led the UNC Alumni Committee on Racial and Ethnic Diversity and is a founding member of the national organization, Blacks in Philanthropy. He also served as UNC System staff lead for the Board of Governor’s Committee on Historically Minority-Serving Institutions, of which there are six.
Minor begins work in his new role Feb. 1.
