A&T, Bluford Library to Present “An Evening with Joshua Bennett” on April 11

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 31, 2023) – Adrina Greenlee Bass ‘04, an assistant attorney general at the North Carolina Department of Justice, will serve as speaker for the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University Student Honors Convocation on Wednesday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to noon at Harrison Auditorium. The event will include the presentation of academic honors and excellence awards.
Bass has 14 years of experience in the legal profession, including state administrative and trial courts, federal trial courts and associate appellate courts. In her current role, she represents the North Carolina Department of Transportation in eminent domain litigation and is responsible for all phases of litigation in land acquisition proceedings, including investigation, trials in the superior courts, and appeals to the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court. She previously represented the North Carolina Department of Public Safety in a variety of civil litigations matters.
A member of the Alpha Zeta Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Bass takes pride in giving back to her community through service projects. She serves on the state Justice Department’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and is a member of Wake Women Attorneys, Wake County Bar Association and North Carolina A&T’s Executive Advisory Board. A&T recently honored her with an Alumni Achievement Award from the Honors College.
Bass is a proud double historically Black college and university alumna, having earned her B.A. in political science summa cum laude from A&T, where she was a member of the University Honors Program (UHP). She obtained her MBA and J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2009, when she became a licensed attorney and began her legal career in private practice where she focused on criminal defense and personal injury.
Bass met her husband, Rahmud, as N.C. Central MBA students. Married in 2009, they make their home in Wake Forest, North Carolina, with their two children, Sydney and Asa.
The April 12 event will be the first spring convocation for the Honors College, which transitioned from the UHP last fall and is led by Dean Margaret I. Kanipes ‘90, Ph.D. The UHP launched in 1998 at the request of Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr., who served as vice chancellor of Academic Affairs at the time, with a cohort of 50 high-achieving and exceptionally motivated undergraduates. Today, the college has an overall enrollment of more than 1,000 students.
