EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (July 18, 2023) – North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University has appointed Chileatha Wynn, DMSc, MPAS, PA-C, director of clinical education for its Physician Assistant (PA) Program in the John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences.
“In addition to being an outstanding PA educator, Dr. Wynn is a stellar leader, and we are extremely excited to welcome her,” said Nicole Burwell, Ph.D., PA-C, department chair and program director. “I look forward to seeing the clinical curriculum thrive under her leadership.”
Wynn brings more than 15 years of experience as a clinical PA working in urgent care and emergency settings at Cleveland Clinic, as well as Triangle-area family medicine and urgent care facilities and WakeMed Hospital in North Carolina.
“I’m honored to have this role and look forward to providing opportunities for others who desire to enter the PA profession,” said Wynn. “North Carolina A&T is a dynamic institution with a proud legacy of preeminence. I look forward to adding PA to that legacy.”
Wynn’s experience as a PA educator spans both the didactic and clinical curriculum. She most recently served as director of clinical education for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill PA Studies Program.
“It’s wonderful that the new PA program got such great talent guiding the establishment of clinical education and development of clinical partnerships,” said Elimelda Moige Ongeri, Ph.D., Hairston College dean. “Dr. Wynn’s knowledge and network in the state of North Carolina positions her to be effective in creating needed infrastructure and supporting students in the PA program.”
Wynn, whose research interests include diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), is active in the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants as its DEI committee co-chair.
