By Jackie Torok / 11/14/2024

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Nov. 14, 2024) – The North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University community is invited to “Beyond the Ballot: Winning in a Political Pandemic,” scheduled for Monday, Nov. 18. The event is an opportunity to gain insights, make connections and become energized to shape the future.

Hosted by the N.C. A&T Division of Student Affairs, Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement, Zeta Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc. and Student Social Action Coalition, it will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in McNair Hall Room 240.

The event will feature a panel discussion addressing the A&T community’s key concerns after the Nov. 5 election. It is designed to inspire attendees, dispel their fears and equip them with a forward-looking perspective in civic engagement.

Topics include the limits and powers of the presidency, the authority of Congress, Project 2025 – separating actionable plans from mere rhetoric – and the significance of North Carolina’s election results. The discussion will focus on what students can be proud of, how they can maintain momentum for midterm elections and provide insights to help students stay engaged.

The event’s goals are to:

  • Provide Clarity: Understanding the powers at both federal and state levels and what recent election outcomes mean for students.
  • Encourage Empowerment: Discussing how college students can continue mobilizing and supporting one another in meaningful ways.
  • Inspire Confidence: Addressing student concerns, dispelling fears and celebrating their significant turnout as young voters.

Representatives from the North Carolina Black Alliance, Forward Justice, Emancipate North Carolina and other organizations will participate.
